Fishing is an exciting attraction of Daksum. The Bringhi River is full of trout. It is also known as Angler’s Heaven. Fishing is allowed but only after permission from Jammu and Kashmir Forest Department.


How to Reach Daksum

By Air

The nearest International Airport is Srinagar. From the airport buses, cabs and hired taxis drive to Anantnag 66 Kilometers away. Then drive through Achabal, Kokernag to reach Daksum. Distance from airport is in total 106 kilometers.

By Rail

The nearest railway station is Anantnag but the railhead has limited options. The Srinagar railhead (98 Km) and Jammu Tawi Railway station (296 Km) are the better options. From the railway station frequent cabs, taxis and buses ply on the route to Daksum.

By Road

Daksum is connected with smooth roads. The valley is on route of Sinthan Top near Kokernag Springs as you cross the Achabal Mughal Gardens. From Srinagar the drive is almost 98 kilometers.


Best time to visit

Daksum can be visited throughout the year. Every season presents a beautiful aspect of nature. In summers, April to June the valley is apt for camping, trekking and picnics. Winters converts the valley into a snowy paradise. Snow blesses the ground from the start of November and stay till February. Monsoon is the time when the Bringhi River is flowing in full might.
