Sindhu Dharsha festival in Ladakh symbolizing its identity and civilization. Some of the historian express that name of our country called Hindustan is being related with the expansion of Sindhu river ( Indus River ) which flows from Ladakh to Batalik and enter in Pak occupied Kashmir in the north and reach near Karachi in Pakistan. This expansion of Sindhu river and its boundary used to define the territory of ancient India under Jammbo dweep called Bharat Khande.
Ladakh tourism has announced this festival couple of years before which combine our diverse ethnicity and religious groups congregate on one platform to share their culture, tradition and respect for each other. Sindhu Darshan, Sindhu means river Indus and Darshan means to witness ( watching , participating and witnessing )the river Sindhu which is the main identity of our existence as a nation in term of natural boundary in concern of geographically. It begins on the full moon Guru Purnima day and lasts for three or four days depending upon the organizers. The festival includes various religious programs and cultural performances from across the subcontinent.
This festival get celebrated little away from the main market of Leh which is approx 8 to 10kms in the east of Leh city. Shey Palace and monastery is the main milestone to reach at. River Sindhu or Indus is just few minutes walking distance from this point.
We must recommend you to visit most touristic places or personal interest places in Ladakh if planning to witness this Sindhu Darshan festival. Places such as Sham Valley, Nubra Valley , Pangong Tso Lake, Aryan valley are most recommended places to be add on.
This year Sindhu Festival is being celebrated. Please make sure that your arrival in Leh should be minimum two days in advance so that you will be well acclimatized with the high altitude. Though we can make any changes to add Sindhu Darshan Festival on your program by making any possible changes to visit other destinations either in pre festival or post festival.
Arrival Leh in the morning and transfer to the hotel. Full day of rest for acclimatization to the high altitude of Leh (11,500 ft / 3500 mtrs). Evening explore Shanti Stupa and Leh Market. Overnight in hotel.
After leisurely drive west to visit Sangam (confluence of Indus & Zanskar Rivers), Magnetic Point, Gurudwara Pathar Sahib, Kali Mata (Temple of Guardians in Spituk monastery) & Hall of Fame. Explore Leh palace in the Evening and Explore local market. Overnight in hotel.
After leisurely breakfast drive to Sindhu Darshan ground and enjoy the local dance, songs and much more. Evening back to Leh city and enjoy your beautiful evening in Leh market. Overnight stay in your hotel in Leh.

After breakfast leave for Nubra Valley, driving across Khardong-la (alt: 18,380 ft). After descending from the pass, drive on for sightseeing of Sumoor area and Samstaling Gompa. Drive back to Deskit / Hundar for overnight in a fixed camp or hotel.
After breakfast drive to explore Diskit Monastery founded by Changzem Tserab Zangpo, oldest and largest Buddhist monastery in the Nubra Valley belongs to the Gelugpa sect. drive further to reach Turtuk which is the last outpost of Indian Army. Beautiful village with full of apricot trees. Back to Nubra Valley and en route stop at Hundar Sand Dunes where you can enjoy a short camel safari using the double-humped Bactrian camel found here (optional on direct payment). Overnight at the hotel in Nubra.
After breakfast drive to Pangong via Shyok. Approx 5 - 6 hours drive will take you to this beautiful high altitude and longest lake in the region. Check in at your hotel / camp in Pangong and enjoy the beautiful evening at Pangong Tso. Overnight stay at Pangong To.
After breakfast, leave Pangong and retrace the Leh route across Chang-la. Upon reaching Karu, drive across the Indus and visit the famous Hemis Monastery, biggest monastery of Ladakh. Later drive on to Leh, en route visiting the picturesque Thiksey monastery and Shey Palace. Overnight in hotel.
Early morning transfer to the airport for taking the flight back home.
